Silk Hope - Turban a la Dominika
The Dominika-style turban covers the head and creates a large silk rosette above the forehead. The decoration is prepared before the scarf is placed over the head.
What you will need
- a 90 × 90 cm square silk scarf
- two small, thin elastic bands
- a mirror
- Time: about 4 minutes
Step-by-step instructions

Fold the scarf. Fold the scarf diagonally into a triangle and align the long edge.

Prepare the centre of the decoration. Gather the silk at the centre of the long edge into soft folds.

Secure it with the first elastic. Secure the gathered folds with a thin elastic band and tighten it firmly around the prepared centre.

Shape the rosette. Use your fingers to open the secured folds into a full rosette. Leave the rest of the triangle hanging freely.

Place the scarf over your head and join the points. Position the rosette above your forehead and spread the triangular section over the crown towards the nape. Take the two long points around your head and secure them at the nape with a firm double knot.

Secure the decoration. Adjust the rosette above your forehead and, if necessary, support it with the second thin elastic so it stays close to your head.

Finish the turban. Tuck the short ends into the folds, smooth the scarf around your head and open the rosette one last time.
Tip
Place the elastic only around the gathered silk, not around the entire scarf. This keeps the rosette soft and prevents it from pulling the fabric over your head.
