Double Bow
The double bow uses a gathered scarf and a thin elastic band to hold full loops beneath the base knot.
What you will need
- a 90 × 90 cm square silk scarf
- a small, thin elastic band
- a mirror
- Time: about 3 minutes
Step-by-step instructions
- Fold the scarf. Fold the scarf in half and align the edges.
- Gather it. Starting at one side, gradually fold and gather the scarf into soft pleats towards the other side.
- Place it around your neck. Wrap the gathered scarf around your neck with both ends pointing forward.
- Tie the base knot. Join the ends with a simple knot, leaving one end slightly shorter.
- Create the double bow. Fold both the shorter and longer end into full loops beneath the knot and secure them with a thin elastic band.
- Open the pleats. Hide the elastic beneath the knot. Use your fingers to open the layers of the bow and adjust the two hanging points to the length you prefer.
Tip
Wrap the elastic only gently. If it is too tight, it will crease the silk and flatten the loops.
