Silk Hope - Turban with a Hair Tie a la Jana
The Jana-style turban uses a thin elastic band to create a silk rosette at the side. The remaining points fall freely beneath the decoration.
What you will need
- a 90 × 90 cm square silk scarf
- a small, thin elastic band
- a mirror
- Time: about 3 minutes
Step-by-step instructions
-
Place the scarf over your head. Position the centre of one edge above your forehead and spread the fabric over the crown. Leave the long points hanging on both sides.
-
Move and secure the points. Bring both long points to the same side of your head just above your ear and smooth the scarf over the crown. Join the points at the side with a thin elastic so they stay close to your head.
-
Shape the rosette. Gently gather the silk above the elastic, turn it around the join and open it into a soft rosette.
-
Finish the turban. Tuck the end of the rosette beneath the elastic. Leave the remaining points falling freely and smooth the front and back edges of the scarf.
Tip
Tighten the elastic only enough to hold the points. Pulling it too firmly can crease the silk.
